“We don’t talk about love”

Saw the manics last night in the c.i.a. I don’t care what motorpoint have called it, it’ll always be the c.i.a. to me. It’s been 7 years since I saw them last but the only thing that’s changed since is they’ve released 3 albums. Still an amazing show. Great day to be reminded of the country you live in. Cymru am byth.

The wolves from the door.

So a few weeks ago, I recorded a bunch of tracks at Boatyard in Pembroke with the help of resident engineer James. Quite a nice little recording studio and well worth looking into if you want to record music and live in pembs.

In an attempt to keep the wolves at bay, the results of the session are being molded into something a little more substantial and coherent at the minute, but soon you’ll be able to hear more of the fruits of these labours.

For now, here is one of the tracks recorded that day. Its called “freckles” and I hope you love it.

Much love

Japan and nz disaster relief.

Hey everyone,

I’m sure unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, you’ll know that the last month has seen Mother Nature remind us all who is the real enforcer of this planet. Natural disasters occur all the time, maybe more regularly than we ever hear on the news and disaster relief is in a constant ongoing state of support and need.

Aftermath of the tsunami in Kesennuma City, Japan

Aftermath of the tsunami in Kesennuma City, Japan

New Zealand, and now Japan, although devastated by recent events are two of the richer countries to be recently involved in devastation And, whilst they unlike so many others have the means to recover from troubled times, they are also in need of a massive amount of help. In fact, just this morning another earthquake measuring 6.0, was recorded off the east coast of Honshu.

Last year, I donated to the Disaster Relief Fund for Haiti on a personal level. I know the region is still in turmoil, and aid from America and other parts of the world is still ongoing, as are donations.

Devastation in Christchurch, NZ

Devastation in Christchurch, NZ

This year, I wanted to do something different; something more. So, I have decided that for the next two weeks, all the profit I get from selling my album ‘Moll’ on Bandcamp.com, I will split down the middle and donate to the two British Red Cross appeals for the New Zealand Earthquake Relief and the Japanese Tsunami Relief, respectively.

My album is £4 and has been selling well in small numbers. A lot of these sales have come from Japan, and I have friends who live in New Zealand so these appeals have a personal attachment to them. If everyone could please pass this message on, maybe we could raise just a little more than what one of us is usually willing to give. I know times are tough, and its scant consolation to giveaway £4 of your money and get my music in return, but for the bigger picture and the desperation of two nations who need our help, please give what you can.

Moll Cover

Please go to BandCamp to listen and buy ‘Moll’, the album. After BandCamp’s processing charges, usual profit on this album is £3.40 and all of this will be donated. If you just want to buy individual tracks, then feel free, the profit on these will also be donated (usually £0.74 per single track)

Alternatively, you can always go to the British Red Cross website to donate to either fund, or other ongoing appeals directly. Please check out their work.

Thank you for listening, and remember to please pass this information on. Invite your friends to this facebook page, and direct them to this note. I will be posting this on WelshUnsigned.com and UnsignedPromotions.com, also to get the word out. If you’re a radio DJ, promotor or in the media somewhere, please get the word out so we can raise more and more money. If you’re on Twitter, then get in touch @brighteyedsky, and RT this message as much as you can. I’ll let you know by April 1st how much is being donated.

Thanks again –

Ash wednesday

Listening to Ash’s back catelogue, got through 1977 and Nu-clear sounds. Finally that album is starting to make sense to me. Halfway through Free all angels now.

I say “shotgun”, you say…

Yesterday wasn’t a great day. There. It’s over, let’s get on with it.

However, the silver lining was that some of you managed to catch the release of News from home and I’ve had some really nice feedback from people already so far.

You can listen and buy the EP, with 2 tracks and artwork for the special price of £1 from BandCamp.

Balls to that scratch card or extra shot of syrup in your already over-priced coffee today. Get yourself 5 minutes of something you can keep and use again.

Kind of like when dylan went electric…

You can buy the new single ‘News from Home’ and the acoustic b-side from BandCamp right now for only £1. It’s a bit of a departure from the usual stuff. Make of that what you will. It’s not an indication of what’s ahead or leaving the old stuff behind, just felt like it had more life in it. Hope you like it.

Happy St. Davids Day everyone, especially all you welsh! Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant Hapus!
